Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering Library. The Avinashilingam Faculty of Engineering Library was established in 1996 Whichaims to provide information services and access to print and e-resources to support the informational needs of the student and faculty community. The fully computerized central library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, printed and electronic journals, CD-ROMs, on-line databases, audio video cassettes and project reports. Open Access System is being followed to access the books and journals.

Services

  • Fully computerized and all the books are bar-coded in the library & barcode scanners are used in the circulation counter for transaction of books.
  • Through electronic gate register, reader's library identity cards are scanned at the entrance and exit points.
  • Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) - Browsing terminals are provided for searching the library's collections.
  • Reference Service (Encyclopaedia, Dictionary, Year-books, Handbooks, Exam guides and Previous year question papers)
  • Digital Library with computersaccess to all the e-resources, created and maintained for the question bank and answer keys, e-books, Lab manuals of Faculty of Engineering using D Space. It is accessible in 10.1.8.100/jspui through intranet.
  • Our library provides remote access to UGC e- ShodhSindu consortium
  • We have enrolled students and staff members of Avinashilingam Institute for Higher Education for Women, Faculty of Engineering inNDL (National Digital Library) under the head of Dr. S. Maragatham as a nodal officer.
  • NPTEL web and video courses are available online and offline for enhancement of students' knowledge.
  • Reprography Service is available.

  • 3 Books per UG Student.
  • 5 Books per PG Student.
  • Returning Period -one week.
  • 10 books per Faculty

32 systems are available in the Digital Library section with Internet access facility to access the e-resources. Users can access this section for educational, research and development purposes. Non-book materials such as CDs, floppies and cassettes acquired / supplied along with the text / reference books / magazines are also kept in this section. There about 2883 CDs/DVDs, audio and video cassettes,1149 e-project reports are available.  Digital Library is created and maintained for the previous year question papers with answer keys of for all departments in Engineering using D Space. Multimedia facilities are also available.

Library Rules and Regulations

  • Users are requested to swipe their identity card while entering and leaving the library in the electronic gate register.
  • Students' identity cards must be presented for borrowing books. These cards are not transferable and loss of cards should be notified immediately to the circulation counter.
  • Before borrowing the books, students must ensure that the book is in good condition and pages are intact.
  • Defects must be brought to the notice of the Librarian.
  • Failure to return the books on due dates will entail a fine of five rupees per book per day; the membership will be cancelled after a period of 10 days of non-return of the books.
  • Users are responsible for all books borrowed on their cards; books should be returned on or before the due date.
  • The Institute considers theft, mutilation or tampering with library materials, equipment or property by users is punishable.
  • Journals, Magazines and Project Reports and Journal Back Volume are available for referenceonly.
  • Personal belongings should be left in the rack at the entrance of library.
